Whay do people keep on thinking all characters in Anime is made to be Whites?

Please take the time and read this and tell me what you think.

Here are traits that make people think this way and reasons for them:

1) White Skin- Okay, first to start with the skin color. No one really has completely white skin (Unless you are Michael Jackson). Whites and East Asians have the closest to white though, but they all have a tint of another color. For Whites, that color is pink and for Asians, it is yellow. Now if you look at Anime, most of the characters have white with a tint yellow. Take Naruto for example, out of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, only Sakura has a tint of pink. East Asians have white skin too you know!

2) Large Eyes- In anime, large eyes is one of the traits that make it unique. If characters had small eyes, like in real life, it just wouldn't be anime. I mean, the eyes in anime are huge. Way bigger than White eyes or Asian eyes. The reason characters have large eyes is not because they want to appear White, but simply because thats how Anime is like. If they wanted to be White, the eyes would be way smaller, but just a little larger than Asian eyes. Anime eyes are almost always in a circle, not an oval. Asian eyes are just a bit narrower, but both Asians and Whites don閳ユ獩 have eyes that are that similar to a circle.

3) Hair Color/Eye Color- Anime characters have different hair colors not to resemble Whites, but simply to be creative. It would be quite boring if every character had black hair and brown eyes. One thing to prove this is that hair color is not limited to those of the Whites (Orange, Brown, Red, Yellow) but also includes black, blue, purple, pink, green, and basically any color you can name. In my opinion, purple and blue are more close to black than White hair colors. Even white is closer to black than brown or yellow. The same thing applies with eye colors that can range from black to red to purple. If anime was built to revolve around whites, than the pink hair and red eyes wouldn閳ユ獩 exist. In White cartoons, because Whites have lots of diversity in appearance, the characters don閳ユ獩 need to have black hair. For Asians, we only have one hair color and one eye color, so we need to find a way to make it less boring. Even in White cartoons, black hair exists.

In conclusion, Anime was built not to revolve around Whites, but rather to make it more interesting. Hair color and eye color are an example of this. Big eyes are too big to be White or Asian and it閳ユ獨 just a trait of anime style drawing. Skin color is mainly Asian as it is usually white with a tint of yellow more than it is white with a tint of pink. If anime was made to be White, names like 閳ユ发ary閳?would be chosen over 閳ユ藩akura閳?and western culture would replace oriental culture.

Post what you think about my argument. Thanks. ^_^

I agree 100%. It's far too often that I see people ask questions on here saying "why are all anime characters american!?!??"

Edit: Oh and on thing to add to your hair arguement: If we look at pretty much ANY series where anime characters all have realistic hair colores, then all the characters will have traditional dark hair similar to asians (unless the person is a foreigner or if the story is stated to take place somewhere that is obviously not Japan). Look at series like Azumanga Daioh or Kaiji or Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, etc.

oh i really agree with u, especially with 3. and conclusion..

who actually thought of that crap, that anime people are made to look like whites, it's so arogant to think like that, japanese are the best people and they don't need to try to look like someone else, if characters in anime look somehow different than japanese reg people then that's just for variety and because japanese people have unlimited imagination so they can make characters look however they want, jap rockz!

-i just hope i got question corectly x] -

Well, for the eyes part, the Big eyes were used in original anime because they were easier to exaggerate expressions. Simply put, if they had drawn the characters to be Asian, no offense, they would have had difficulty showing expressions. For example look at Brock from Pokemon. He is obviously meant to be shown with Asian heritage. As far as hair goes, there are people at my school with blue hair, and their Asian. Infact, my best friend is black and he has blond hair. Hair color was used to make characters stand out. As far as skin tone, paler colors were used because shading would be easier and brighter colors attract viewers better. In contrast, extremely dark colors can also bring in viewers, but it is more difficult to animate because outlines would blend in with the skin tone. This is just my two sense on the subject...
