What is this game?

Hi, my grandpa recently died, and so I am just gathering lots of things that remind me of him, and of the happy times. A long time ago (gosh, when I was about...9 / 10ish, I am now 16) I really strongly recall him playing a game, and I would really love to get my hands on this game... problem is, I have no idea what this game is called, so I am hoping you game fanatics can help me! Here is what I remember

the main character, was a guy with green hair!... or was it pink, ok, Green or pink hair, pretty sure it was green, at the start he was really sick, and his sister (the princess or whatever she was, XD) got very jealous of him, and she was then kidnapped by an evil creatue, then the green haired (yes very sure he had green hair) got better, and realized the princess (pretty sure she was blonde with a pink dress) was missing and ran to her rescue, the game was 2D, and was a RPG sort, and I swear I remember killer pigs..... So with my awful description can anyone help?

It might be an old Zelda game. In all of the Zelda games the main character Link wears a green hat, which may look like hair. (It might be hair in the old games, I dont know) Also in every Zelda game, a princess get captured and Link has to rescue her.The princess always has blonde hair and a pink dress in every game. Zelda is an rpg, and all of the games feature killer pigs or chickens when u make them mad but hitting them 2 many times! Also Zelda was a 2d game, but now all the new ones are 3d. The game u are looking 4 may not be Zelda, but it sounds like it 2 me. I hope i helped! :) Im sorry about ur grandpa, I know how hard it is when u lose someone. It's good ur concentrating on the good and happy times!

Try Legend of Zelda the old one...if it's not try Mario...I had a Mario game on Nintento 64 when I was younger and it seem to be like yout description...30% it's that mario 70% it's Legend of Zelda...by the way you can try Legend of Zelda the Ocarina of Time it's a new version of the game and it's pretty cool:D
