i think kaila idea is good,more or less what I was going to recommend,I attended a wedding which i swept my fringe to one side and had a low wavy/curly ponytail to the opposite side (lots of volume on top) then added 2 hair brooches with dimontes for eyecatching result,i got complimented all nite!its a sure winner!

For the look you're going for, I would go with a deep side part, and a low-side ponytail. It's simple, and classic, and also would cover a bit of shoulder, adding a casual touch to the dress. If you have tight curls, I would suggest taming them into loose waves, but if your curls are large and not frizzy, then they should lie nicely on their own.

Depends on what people consider all american. Usually long curly hair is good enough, just simply flowing. Not done up, not cut, simple as it is.
