How to tan with red hair, blue eyes and fair skin?

Being VERY fair skinned with red hair, it's extremely hard for me to tan. I've been laying in the tanning bed for the past three days at six minutes/day. Day one and two I was a little red/pink on my chest. Day three was miserable I look like a lobster. I'm using a really good tanning lotion with a mega melamax in it with a quadrouple bronzer. Any suggestion on either getting a tan or develop any color at all would be greatly appreciated...I do have a full month package with unlimited use if that helps anyone...

Being fair skinned, this is how it goes.

Dont tan everday. Especially before you have developed a base tan.

I recommend this tanning 'plan'!

Week one: Tan a maximum of 3 times this week, not on consecutive days! Spend a MAXIMUM of 3 mins in the tanning bed.

Week two: Tan a maximum of 3 times this week aswell, however increase the tan time to 4 mins.

Week three: 3 times again, you can increase to 6 mins.

By now you should have seen results. This is your base tan.

Week four: You can increase to 4 times this week, but I wouldn't recommend it. You can increase to a tanning time of 9 minutes.

Week five and beyond: 12 mins, though I wouldn't go all the time, because you would have acheived your base and don't need to work as hard to keep it.

Also, start this plan when you have healed from your burn!

Remember, burns to not fade to tans, burns appear on top of tans. And burns suck.

Do not be a lobster or I will hunt you down and serve you to my seafood loving friends.

Hope this helps :)

DO NOT USE TANNING SALONS!!! OR TANNING BEDS OR THE SUN!!!!

they damage your skin terribly!! and make u look like jessica simpson and lindsay lohan on bad tan days!!!

u need to buy a gradual taning moisturiser that lightly tans ur skin giving u a nice glow not a orange lobster...my friend uses it and it works wonders :P

honestly i wouldn't tan if i were you.

i'm not one to talk because i use tanning beds, but it says right on the beds if you look closely, and legally there should be a sheet either in the rooms or on the counter at the salon, that says you SHOULD NOT tan if you are very fair skinned or don't tan in the sun.

there's different skin types, and if you read, there are certain types of people that should not use tanning beds. if you don't tan easily in the sun, or you don't tan at all, the beds are not recommended. because what's going to happen is exactly what's happening to you. you're going to burn. then when the burn goes away you'll be pale again. some people burn then tan, but your skin type won't.

you're just damaging your skin for no reason. tanning obsessively isn't great for your skin, but it's not anywhere near as horrible as burning. sunburns are what truly causes skin damage and can lead to skin cancer, not moderate tanning like everyone thinks.

and i'd be willing to bet with your red hair, blue eyes and fair skin, that you have freckles. and if that's true, all tanning is going to do is give you more freckles, not a tan. not that there's anything wrong with that, but i'm just saying you're never going to achieve the look you're trying to.

i'd recommend spray tanning, but guys with fake tans look weird anyways. you'd be much better off just sticking to your natural look. i know i know, i shouldn't be talking. but hey it's easier to give advice than to take it haha.

why would you want to tan? I like the fair pale look.

well the more you go while youre already burnt, the more burnt you will be. with such fair skin you should not be in a tanning bed every single day. you need to let your skin heal from the burn before you go tanning as well. you need to start out slow and get a base tan before you should even THINK about going that often, your tanning salon is not very good if theyre letting you go in every day ESP since you are burnt already. let your skin heal, ((get some aloe vera gel and stick it in the fridge, aloe helps heal burns and the coolness from the fridge helps soothe the heat from the burn))

once your skin is no longer burnt ((the peeling has stopped)) then go back if you must, but only go twice a week for shorter sessions, no matter how "good your tanning lotion" is, if your skin burns easily, youre going to burn NOT tan! and burns DO NOT fade to tans.

my suggestion..? go to a salon and be spray tanned professionally. its better for your skin and you wont get burnt..plus youll get an all over tan that lasts about two weeks ((if you take care of it properly)) and youll have a golden glow that you want !

hope this helped!
